Héctor Martínez Hernández, project partner from EMERGE, presented the ProtoAtlantic project to the ‘Maritime Skills and Jobs’ Working Group on Tuesday 9th March 2021. The event was organized within the framework of the Interreg Atlantic Area Atlantic Youth Creative Hubs (AYCH) project, the Atlantic Cities Strategic Plan and working group on Maritime Skills and Jobs.

The meeting discussed implemented local measures and initiatives of members on the topic, while the event also presented European programmes and projects linked with maritime innovation, skills, industry, and business and that will bring innovation to territories and boost maritime skills and jobs in the Atlantic Arc. Furthermore, the WG meeting also included a youth dimension thanks to the AYCH initiative called “AYCH Ocean” which aims to unite the work of youth, the creation of future prototypes and the treatment of garbage through creative reuse.

Héctor Martínez Hernández, from EMERGE, presented the ProtoAtlantic project results, focusing on the conclusions of the Policy Round Tables, as well as the ProtoAtlantic Accelerator Program. In particular, discussion centered on the role of start-ups in the project, and how start-ups bring innovation to the sector which results in competitiveness and growth.
